Question 1
finding the lightest ball among nine balls in the shortest possible way
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Pixotope Technologies (Oslo)
Interview
Screening interview with HR and peer technician.
2nd technical interview Q&A.
3rd interview was about a technical assignment that they asked me to do to present it on the interview with the hiring manager.
Everything was amazing and smooth until I met the hiring manager. His first question was: “ Where are you originally from?” that I found super weird to ask. Then I perfectly presenting the project assignment with the approval of the peer technician\ Engineer in front of the hiring manager whom he claimed that he (hiring manager himself )is not a technical person.
The hiring manager was super shady during the interview. Despite him claiming that he is not a technical expert yet he started to ask technical questions about something else that is not related to the core of the job and this tells me that he’s not in favor of hiring me at all for “some reason”! He started asking a very technical Audio Engineering questions that is not related to the job I applied for. What he didn’t expect that I am an Audio Engineer expert as well so I answered all of his questions in details. Yet he said my answers were wrong so he started to correct me using my answers!
The way he spoke to me was very disrespectful. Of course I tried to clarify when I feel disrespect but he twist the words and finds his way out. He carefully used sentences that can have more than one meaning and most of it were bad. Even the technical person from Pixotope was very uncomfortable.
To be precise, this person spoke like he is in a higher level and you are nothing.
I may or may not have a copy of that interview as well for your CEO review if required.
I didn’t want to go on social media to expose this hiring manager because I have met few people of your team and they were super polite and understanding.
I was really looking forward to working with them until I met the hiring manager.
Advice:
If you are planning to keep the hiring manager around please don’t waste people’s time specially with assignments and projects and have him to make the screening interview first because clearly he has to approve the origins, or color, or sexuality, or even religion before hiring.
However, if I have to take a good guess I believe this person is super toxic. Your team and your company would better without this toxicity. Early retirement can be considered.
And of course I got an email saying that they are not going to give me an offer because they would like to hire someone with more in depth technical skills!!!!! Seriously! This is the reason after passing all the technical interviews and building & presenting the project assignments that you asked for perfectly!
All in all, this was a very big disappointing experience and such a waste of time and energy.
