I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at PayPay (Tokyo) in Dec 2024
Interview
The first interview lasted about 30-40 minutes and was highly technical. The interviewer focused on discussing your experience, particularly looking for strong hands-on expertise with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Amazon Aurora, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
If you prepare thoroughly in advance, the questions should be manageable. Best of luck!
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at PayPay (Tokyo) in Jan 2022
Interview
The recruiter reached out to me via LinkedIn and explained about the company and its origin.
Next an online interview was scheduled with one of the engineers on the platform engineering team, using an English interpreter for translating back and forth between Japanese and English. It was more of a discussion around what I have been doing in my current role and trying to map it onto PayPay methodologies.
Few days later, received a standard rejection email with no clue of what went wrong. Felt like a waste of time and energy as I couldn't get anything from the interview process at all.
