I applied online. I interviewed at Patagonia (Salt Lake City, UT) in Oct 2020
Interview
The interview process was pretty over-the-top for a job that doesn't even pay $15/hr during a pandemic.
It consisted of a group interview held over video call. 3 people giving interviews, myself, and 2 other people being
interviewed. It felt like we were in a pageant because we had to take turns answering the same question- in no particular order- otherwise they'd just move on. Very awkward dynamic.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What does "not bound by convention" mean to you?
Why do you want to work for Patagonia?
The interview consisted of two virtual interview conducted by store managers at other locations, and a phone interview by a local manager. The interviewers were friendly and the actual interviews were straight-forward, but the scheduling over the course of this process was a bit chaotic.

Question 1
Tell me about a time when you had to work together with colleagues to solve a problem.
2 rounds of interviews, organized, streamlined, and great questions. They emphasize the importance of environmental philanthropy. Both rounds of interviews were behavioral, and included a mix of specifics and broad personality questions. Both interviewers were friendly and seemed genuinely interested in and engaged with what I had to say.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Patagonia (Ventura, CA) in Apr 2025
Interview
Two interviews, one group, one individual. Questions are very personable and interesting. Felt supported and non-judged. Best to showcase yourself and your personality and how you'd contribute to the team
