      Analyst Interview

      16 Sept 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Seattle, WA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Parker Remick (Seattle, WA) in Sept 2015

      Interview

Spent time with most of the consultants and partners with some interviews focused on culture and some focused on aptitude. Took a research test to evaluate skills and presented results to the research team and defended my positions. Particularly intense interview with senior partner, highly enjoyable but quite challenging. My particular process was somewhat drawn out but in the time I have been here it has been revised and improved to make it more structured and organized. Team is highly intelligent and very comfortable debating and iterating.

      Question 1

Don't have a particular question but would recommend that people be ready to field a wide variety of questions and be prepared to debate (constructively). Team is open minded to new ideas if presented logically and well supported.

      Interview

The interviews themselves were ~3 rounds, with 1 round being a more meet-and-great with different team members asking questions, and the other round being an exercise. However, during my meet-and-great with two more senior leaders in the office, I was shocked to have one of them say that the culture requires folks to speak up and then asked if I would be okay with that because I’m Asian and that can be a cultural barrier. Not only did that feel highly inappropriate, I was born in the US. Within that same round, they proceeded to ask me “what advice would you give my daughter” without much context, which felt like an oddly personal question and one I was obviously being asked because I was a woman, and not something I felt particularly comfortable answering. Overall, I got the impression that this firm is outdated in their leadership, and could use a good deal of money to be put in sensitivity / D&I training. I would not recommend applying for the company if you’re a woman of color, I personally don’t think any job, let alone one at a small firm where everyone interacts with everyone else, is worth putting up with such painful ignorance.
