      Software Developer Interview

      1 Jul 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Portland, OR
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at PacificSource (Portland, OR) in Jun 2020

      Interview

Applied online. Contacted a month after applying. Had a phone interview with one of the engineering managers. A week later was contacted to have a virtual interview with three people (2 developers and a business analyst). A week after, I followed up via email and was told my email was forwarded to a recruiter who I had never heard of. I never heard from this recruiter. Three weeks after the followup, I followed up again. Instead of receiving an email from my follow up, I received an automated email saying that due to external circumstances, they are no longer filling the position. I understand things happen, but communication was severely lacking.

      Software Engineer Interview

      Anonymous employee
      Portland, OR
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at PacificSource (Portland, OR) in Mar 2022

      Interview

I was interviewed at PacificSource for Software Developer role. The process took three weeks. 3 rounds of interview. Round 1- One hour call with the Manager. Asked Scenario based questions, past experiences, previous projects, etc. Explained about her/his team structure and applications she/he manage. Round 2- A technical interview with three people- Team Lead, Developer and a Business Analyst which lasted for about one and a half hours. Lot of questions on SQL (Stored procedures, triggers, indexes, sub queries, C#, data structures, etc). Round 3- Half an hour call with the Manager- Generic interview about candidate’s interest towards the role and the organization. Till here, the process was very smooth and straightforward. The real game starts after the interview. Their HR Department is futile and a big joke. Manager confirmed me in round 3 that I was selected and informed me that someone from HR department will reach out to me with offer letter. HR called me after 3-4 days and sent me an offer letter which I was supposed to accept. I accepted the position in two days and let HR person knew. Before I accepted, I informed the HR person that I will be available in 3-4 weeks. I also informed the same to the manager during round 3. They were all okay and told me they were very much okay that I was the perfect fit for the position and they had no problem with it and asked me to proceed with background verification meanwhile. They had initiated the background verification which I supposed to provide my details about current employer and previous positions. I was getting ready to inform my current employer about my resignation. After couple of days, I got a call from HR person(not the one whom I was working from step 1). That person sounded rude and informed me that they wanted to move with other candidate. When I asked the reason to that person, all I got was unconvincing and inadequate answers. That person was in IT field for 13-15 years, and doesn’t know how to communicate which is pathetic. You guys wasted a complete month for me and I was lucky I didn’t inform my current employer about the move which would’ve made me look like a stupid or unstable person in front of my current employer. A big and straight suggestion - Stop playing politics and stay true to yourself and communicate clearly. Let people know about your hiring rules way ahead i.e., ROUND 1 and don’t give false hopes if you’re willing to hire others.
