I found the interview process was overtly intense for the position going (minimum wage/basic responsibilities). I arrived at the interview and then filled out a form which took 20 minutes to complete due to the amount of information required. This could’ve been sent over beforehand.
I was first interviewed by the hotel manager, we had a 30 minute interview and went over all the details I put in the form. All was going well due to my previous experience as a hotel receptionist. Until, we then moved onto my personal life, and began speaking about my hobbies (Video editing being the primary focus of the discussion), to which she started to raise concerns, insinuating that she believes I would arrive to work in the morning exhausted due to staying up all night. I explicitly told her this was not the case, but it was met with vague belief.
Following this, she told me I was now going to meet the duty manager/supervisor, to see if he believes I would be a good fit for his team. I waited around for 10 minutes until he was available. He then proceeded to ask me the exact same questions I was asked by the manager. Making it feel more like an interrogation rather than an interview. This went on for a further 20/30 minutes. I believe it would’ve been better suited if they both sat there together at the same time, for one interview. All in all, this interview took around an hour and twenty minutes to complete, for a position that was as previously stated minimum wage, with basic responsibilities. I find it interesting to see that they’re continuously on my job hiring for this position..
