Was approached by a contract to hire head hunter. This should have been my first red flag. Tried to sell the remote job as , "This is good for Oklahoma". I spoke with this guy roughly 5 times as he tried to "coach me" through the interview. The initial conversation with the hiring manager went well and was generally a fun and entertaining conversation.
I was asked to complete a coding challenge and gladly completed the project, then was asked to complete it again in another language prior to the technical interview. The entire process took much longer than it should have. This felt like a bait and switch. This was also sold me as the team was looking for someone who was willing to learn new skills. Prior to the technical interview I made my background clear in data and analytics. The interview itself was geared for a full stack developer and turned awkward very quickly. I was speaking data and they had no idea of the concepts and techniques I was talking about. Overall not a good fit for either us but also a waste of time on both sides. And of course there was no contact from the sleazy recruiter after the interview.
No equity for a "start-up". The company seemed more like a rich kid with an ant farm.
