I applied online. I interviewed at Orkin (Southfield, MI) in Apr 2022
Interview
I interviewed at 6am in person, as soon as I walked in the manager says you can’t have a beard and work here due to their policies on ppe, at that time I had 10 years in pest control and never had a problem with ppe before. I told him I can not cut my beard due to religious reasons and parted ways. 10 minutes later I get a call saying they found a waiver and really wanted me to work there because of my experience, they sent me to do a physical in which I aced. A few days go by and Sunday afternoon I get a call from Rollins corporate office, I was busy with family being that it was a Sunday, and asked if I could call her back, she very rudely said No I’m just calling to tell you that you can’t work here, I asked her why and she said they have a weight limit of 330lbs. I’m 6’5 I’m not a little guy but my actual documentation from the physical that Orkin sent me to said I weighed 321 which is less than the 330 limit they have and I told her that, she rudely said I don’t care I’m just calling to tell you this, on a Sunday afternoon while I’m with my family. That was extremely rude and disrespectful.
It was straightforward: come in and speak to management in their office and answer various questions. One of the easiest interviews Ive done. I was then offered a job at a different location, not too far away, but I declined
