      Business Intelligence Analyst Interview

      22 Jan 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Opendoor in Jan 2016

      Interview

Applied -> take home project -> technical interview Great experience overall. The role is a bit vague on their website, probably to attract a number of people from different backgrounds, so was hard to tell exactly what they're looking for prior to interviewing. Seems like they really need someone to jump in and drive projects to completion + create new projects. The role interfaces with many aspects of a very data intensive company, so you really need to know your stuff as when you get there I imagine there won't be much handholding. Technical interview asked basic python + sql questions, so be prepared to pair program / brush up if your rusty, I was and didn't move to the next round. They were great about giving feedback throughout the process, mine was simple - get better at sql and python.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Opendoor in Dec 2015

      Interview

Take home problem+ Technical interview The whole process was fast. First got a take home problem, which is a mini data challenge focused on the housing market. This part is mainly focused on visualization, which I did in Python (you have the option to do it in Tableau). It took them a week to get back to me and there were some miscommunication about the second round of interview; I was told that they will use Google Hangout to go through that challenge. However, I got a phone call and they asked me to write codes in Python and SQL for completely a new problem. The interviewer was very nice and helpful and it's such a pity that I did bad in the python part. He gave me helpful feedback and after an hour I got an email that they are not considering me for the position.
