      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Opendoor (Los Angeles, CA) in Mar 2021

      Interview

Call was set up shortly after applying. Invite sent directly from recruiter. She DID NOT SHOW for the interview. I emailed her after the interview timeframe - no reply. I emailed her the next day, no reply. Unprofessional and rude.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Opendoor (Denver, CO) in Aug 2018

      Interview

The first email I received after applying online was “Thank you for taking the time to chat. After much consideration, we've made the decision to not move forward at this time. That being said, we’d like to keep your resume on file as our team continues to grow.” I replied that I was confused as I had not chatted with anyone with Opendoor. About a week later I received this email: “Thanks for submitting your application to us for the Denver Vendor Manager role! We are very interested in your skills and background and wanted to invite you to share more about yourself.” A few days later I spoke with the recruiter for about 20 minutes about my education and experience, and got the impression she wasn’t really engaged as I found myself repeating answers. She said my next step would be interviewing with the local team. Also, the national procurement vp likes to talk to all procurement candidates to get a feel for them. I indicated the time zone in Denver. First, she said he is in Dallas, an hour ahead. I then got an email saying I wasn’t correct about the time because the call was coming from Arizona. Once again, I emailed that I was confused as I thought the vp was in Texas. She emailed back that I was correct and set me up for 12:00 the next day. Subsequently, the vp called me at 10:00. I am contracted at a temp job so this was a very big gaffe. I had done a lot of in-depth research on the startup, downloaded the app, and looked at their financing. The conversation went beautifully and the vp answered all my questions and graciously invited me to call with any further questions. The next day I received the same template rejection email as the first. Seriously? I emailed the vp for clarification but haven’t heard back. Incredibly poor communication, follow up, and attention to detail created a terrible first impression and left me feeling jerked around. Job hunting is already stressful, and this kind of treatment makes it that much worse.
