The interview process was very lengthy. I had 5 or 6 Zoom call interviews, one with the hiring manager, one with a director, two with peers and the initial interview was with the recruiter. All of the interviews were fairly casual and easy, I was well qualified for this position so I didn't encounter any particularly troubling road blocks. However, this process took over 3 months total. Unfortunately even though I did really want this job, OW moves so slowly that by the time we got to an offer stage I could no longer actually afford to relocate. This process started beginning of July '23, and I had to decline the offer they sent me after attempting to negotiate more time remote at the end of Oct '23. By the time they came around to the idea of an extended remote tenure to allow for a transition, it was too late and I could no longer make the math of the position work. Everyone was incredibly nice to me, the company is doing some great things. It was really discouraging to have to turn down the offer they presented me, but after nearly 4 months they had completely depleted my savings from my unemployment stint and I could no longer relocate to the office they wanted me to (they do not offer relocation assistance). Had they been prompt in this process (~4-6 weeks) this all would have been a non-issue. I entered this process understanding I would have to relocate on my dime, but didn't anticipate they would take as long as they did. Should you be interviewing with OW, I recommend being incredibly patient, as they seem to take sometimes weeks to get a response or next steps together.
