      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Octopus Energy (London, England) in Oct 2023

      Interview

Was a phone call. Interview slot was changed an hour before to a few hours later. They were then 10 mins late to calling me, both of this adds to anxiety. There was a lot of background noise. They were very rushed and it gave recruitment agency vibes and not the culture I had been expecting from their adverts. A phone interview is pointless in my opinion, you can't properly showcase your experience, and you can't see each other's body language so they don't know when you have finished answering. They asked basic questions that they could have got from my CV which you couldn't elaborate much on.

Hi there, Firstly of all thanks so much for taking the time to leave this review. My name is Olivia and I am Head of TA, and I wanted to take full accountability for this. I'm sorry you have had this experience. In my role, this is really useful in helping me understand your experience at phone screen stage, which quite obviously wasn't good and we would expect much higher standards. I am taking away a lot of learnings from your review, and will speak to the team about how we can do better. The reason we find it important that the very first contact is a phone interview is that it gives us a good understanding of candidates that may be a good fit - we want to see generally how someone would align to our ways of working. We also feel an initial phone call allows a candidate to find out more about our culture, how we work and find out if they want to continue the process with us as well. We're really lucky that we're growing and have a huge amount of interest from candidates applying to our roles so it isn't possible for us to invite every candidate at application stage. The last thing we want you to do is feel this is a pointless stage of our interview process. If you would like to talk, you can reach me on olivia.brown@octoenergy.com Thanks Olivia

      Application

I interviewed at Octopus Energy (London, England)

      Interview

I applied on the career website and was contacted by the recruiter the following day to schedule a screening call on the phone. After the screening call, I was invited to interview with 2 managers. I was rejected a couple of days later by email but the recruiter offered to schedule a feedback call, which we did. The process was smooth, the interviewers professional and engaging, and the opportunity to have a dedicated feedback call remarkable. Overall, a very positive interviewing experience.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Octopus Energy (London, England) in Dec 2023

      Interview

Was called for a first stage which was cancelled last minute due to train strikes I was then sent a link to reschedule and I was sent a link to book an interview under someone elses name , was ignored multiple times by their talent team after I tried to get them to rebook and rectify their mistake. Having worked in recruitment for 5 years myself I appreciate how busy it gets but it literally takes two seconds to reply.
