It involved an HR interview, a panel interview, a seminar, and finally a hiring manager interview. The seminar was based on my PhD (relevant) research work and was attended by about 40 or so people from the department and the lab.

Phone screen then an onsite interview. Phone call is more about describing your experience and chat to see if it is a good fit. In onsite interview, you need to prepare a presentation for PhD research.

Interview
It's a day long interview. Candidate gave 45 min presentation with 15 min of questions and answers. I've received very constructive comments and feedback, a good experience. In general I prefer to work there.
