I had a 30-minute online interview with a Staff Engineer and Hiring Manager. I joined the meeting on time, and the Staff Engineer joined a couple of minutes later and asked me to give a self-introduction. While I was introducing myself, the Hiring Manager joined a few minutes late. The Staff Engineer said “hello [her name]” to greet her, which interrupted my introduction, and the Hiring Manager briefly said “I’m the hiring manager.” I had to ask whether I should continue or restart, and was told to continue.
Neither interviewer provided a proper introduction (aside from “I’m the hiring manager”) or any overview of the role or team, and the conversation went straight into resume-based questions. The tone felt somewhat high-level and one-sided, and only about five minutes were left for my questions.
When time was up, the interviewers simply said “nice speaking with you” and left the meeting immediately, without any closing remarks or discussion of next steps. Overall, the experience felt abrupt and not very respectful of the candidate’s time.
