The interview process was pretty straight forward. They brought us in and just spoke to us a little bit to get a sense of whether or not we knew what sort of research was being conducted at SONIC. They also wanted to see if we had much interest in research for the social sciences. I was asked what I wanted to do post-graduation and how much time I could typically commit to the position.

phone call for 15 minutes with a lab manager, asking questions about relevant experience, research interest and future direction, also have opportunity to ask questions about the project in the lab

Asked questions regarding research experience, asked to discuss things apart from resume. Spoke particularly about experience with language in a social context. Discussed why I wanted the position and spoke about interest in sociolinguistics, experience with creating language, participating in spelling bees, taking sociolinguistic coursework. Experience with qualitative and quantitative research.
