I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Northwestern University (Evanston, IL) in Sept 2017
Interview
Interview was..interesting. I was first called by HR for a screening interview. However, they said they were asking about a research coordinator position I applied for. The trouble was I applied for ~6 at the same time, and they each had the same, generic information (i.e., no info on PI, research projects in the works, etc.).
My actual interview with the PI and her lab manager was fine. It was an online webcam call. Upon reflection, my experience didn't really match with their field.
The hiring/interview process was fast and courteous. I was contacted a week after the job closing date for an interview. A 1:1 interview was conducted within the next 3 days with the hiring manager. I was contacted within the next 10 days with an offer. The hiring manager was willing to hire me over "more qualified" candidates (meaning they had more experience in project coordination) so that I could gain valuable experience.
The background check process was interesting as both Human Resources and the hiring manager checked my references and the hiring manager required more references than usual.
