I applied online through the university's HR page. I heard back from HR about scheduling a phone interview about 4-5 weeks after I submitted my application. The phone interview lasted about 30 minutes and went well. The HR person was very friendly. At the end of the call, she said I would be hearing back soon about scheduling an in-person interview. She also asked about my salary requirements which was pretty standard.
I heard back from a different HR person about 3 weeks after the phone interview wanting to schedule a panel interview with the hiring manager plus three members of the department. I had my in person interview about two weeks after scheduling it. When I arrived, the HR person that I had scheduled the panel interview with greeted me. It was a little stressful when she was trying to figure out what room to put me in. She walked me into a huge meeting of NU employees which was very embarrassing because they abruptly told her "wrong room!" She then took my back down stairs only to bring me back up to the same room where I eventually gave a 10-minute presentation to four people. Once the presentation was over I had a 50-minute panel interview which seemed to go well.
The people were very friendly for the most part. They seemed interested in my background but were a little unprofessional as they had their lunch delivered during my interview which was disruptive and rude. Otherwise, I thought the interview went well and the people were very open to having a discussion about the job and my experience rather than just asking questions.
I heard back about 10 days later after I sent a follow-up email to the HR person. She got right back to me saying that I didn't get the job. I did find it unprofessional that they didn't get back to me on their own especially after the amount of prep time and interview time I had spent.
