I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Northwestern Mutual (New York, NY) in May 2012
Interview
A recruiter will reach out to you. You will have to fill out a questionnaire sent by email. There will be 3 rounds of interviews. Each interview consists of questions why you would be a mutual fit. A lot of personality and psychological questions. Focus on why you want the position and what personal qualities will make you succeed in the position. To succeed, you must be really in tune with yourself and what your goals are. Show motivation and persistence in attitude towards executing goals in life. If you can't exhibit those qualities... then you should reconsider because to be with energetic and ambitious people will leave the faint of heart stumped during interviews.

Question 1
If Northwestern Mutual was not a choice for you at this time, what would you do?
There were four or five interviews, if you count the meeting with my future mentor. There were also a few personality assessments. Lots of paperwork. The finance industry is tightly regulated.
The first interview was easygoing and went fairly well. We talked a little on myself and what northwestern was all about. Because they wanted to see how I could fit in to their team and what I would bring.

The process was smooth and straight forward. A lot of behavioral based questions, but relaxed and low stress. First phase is a phone screening followed by a teams or in person meeting.
