I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Nix Hydra in Aug 2021
Interview
Started off with a phone screen which led to a take home programming test. Between this interview and the next took 3 weeks.
I finally got to meet with the other engineers and reviewed my test. Everything went well and an interview was to be scheduled for a final interview with the CEO. This took them a month to schedule.
In the meeting with the CEO I was informed that they were no longer intending to hire anyone for the role. The CEO then offered to maintain a dialogue in case if they decide to hire again for the position. I was promptly ghosted afterword, and a dialogue has not been maintained for the two months since.
Overall the whole process was extremely discouraging, and I feel they led me on for two months. I was told they were freezing hiring, however that does not seem to be the case as the job listing remained open for some time and other listings were added.
Job listing was announced on the Company's social media page. First wave of applications were asked for a short writing sample and a resume. Second round of the interview involved a writing test and an NDA.
Despite some of the negative reviews here, the employees I worked with throughout the process could not have been more friendly and considerate. I have never—never!—gotten a response to a follow up email, and I wrote back and forth with NH employees several times. They were all very communicative and considerate and kind. Even though I did not get offered the job, it was one of the most positive application processes I've ever been through.

Interview
1) E-mail Survey - I e-mailed them my resume and portfolio and after about 2 weeks I got a survey. I knew surveys weren't uncommon but some of the questions were strange.
2) Phone Interview - Lasted less than 10 min, they asked me to tell them about myself; personal information.
3) In-Person Interview - I interviewed with the Art Director, and halfway through the two co-founders were pulled in. We looked through my portfolio and I was asked some questions I thought were unprofessional
4) NO TEST - I was never given a test of any kind.
Overall, it felt like a series of curveballs, which I attributed to how young the company was.
