I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Newfire Global Partners in Jun 2024
Interview
Applied online. Had a pleasant conversation with a recruiter who said they would move me to the next round. Three days later, rejection email. Two-faced recruiter. Was supposed to talk to engineers but I never got that far.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What's your experience extracting data from documents and putting the content into JSON?
As we’re interviewing for several roles simultaneously and screening various candidates, candidates must meet particular requirements from our and the client’s side to move to the next round of interviews.
The process also depends on how other candidates competing perform, and in your case, the situation probably changed because of it. We’re sorry for the inconvenience and can assure you that the recruiter was just responding to the circumstances changing and had no intention of misleading you.
Thank you for the time to take the interview with us and for leaving this review, all the best!
The interview process consisted mostly of theory and principles of OOP, i.e. pillar of OOP, what are vtables, describe how polymorphism is used and so forth.
Wasn't the worst, but doesn't check the candidate's thought process, or how he would approach a specific problem.
It’s valuable to hear your feedback about the interview process and thoughts on the focus of our interview questions, thanks for participating and finding the time to leave this review. It's great to have you on our team!
We are always looking to refine our methods to better understand the capabilities and potential of our candidates. Your feedback is appreciated and will be taken into consideration for future interviews. Feel free to share more details with your Team Lead or HR Specialist as well, it's much appreciated.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Newfire Global Partners (San Jose, San Jose)
Interview
Fast-paced process, did 4 interviews some include small code challenges, well thought. I was very excited at first unfortunately the contract included clauses such as that the employee was in the obligation of working overtime if needed by the employer... After communicating my discomfort with this point I received pretty bad treatment from the HR department. Phrases such as " I have more important things to do but I took 30 mins of my time to convince you about joining us", "Newfire doesn't play second fiddle.." to put pressure on me to sign with them when I communicated my need for more time to make a decision. Those red flags and some others at the end of the negotiation process made me take a step back and wonder if that was the way they did things from the beginning I couldn't imagine how the work environment would be.
