First: phone screen with talent / HR recruiting manager
Second: interview with department manager for culture and skillset match
Third: interview with 6 prospective team members and another manager
Ended with process interview with recruiter
Note: feedback on interview and process provided directly by recruiter helped made the let down feel more personal with actionable advice
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at New York Times (New York, NY) in Jun 2024
Interview
Typical interview process. HR screening -> Meeting with HM -> Technical Interview -> Panel Interview (which was 4hrs long). During technical interview was asked questions pertaining to the frameworks the team uses and easy leetcode question.
Biggest critic: during the panel interview with the senior qa's, both seemed uninterested in being there and gave off a cold demeanor. Didn't give me time to answer the question. I was continuously being cut off.
The rest of the team and the HR recruiter Nadia were lovely.
