A Real Interview Process with Networx As someone who was genuinely excited about an opportunity with Networx, the amount of technical bureaucracy and lack of HR professionalism during the interview process turned me away. Initially, I applied through Indeed. Within days I heard back from Diana in HR. She was so excited to talk to me about my professional experience. Because I’m actively looking for a company that does more than preaching diversity in the workplace, I came out as a transwoman during my initial screening. Diana was very sweet and we scheduled an on-site interview for the following week. That Tuesday, I interviewed with Ace and Paul who were “interested in my 3-5 year goals” more than my professional experience as this was one of Networx’s interviewing techniques. Of course, the office is nice, which is one of the biggest attractions to working in the heart of the city. For transparency, I came out to both Ace and Paul during my interview and it seemed that they took things well. What looked like an amazing opportunity turned into an annoyance when, after a phone screening, 2 onsite interviews, a phone simulation interview, and another interview with HR, it really became obvious to my current employer that I was job seeking. That’s how you know you’re spending alot of time interviewing for a job that is not a great fit for you. While it’s understandable that you would want to really connect with an applicant to consider them, talking to 5 people and 4 sets of interviews and screenings told me that Networx has an employee retention problem. And most of my interview-related things were during my scheduled days off. I literally had 45-60 minute phone interviews during the work week outside of my lunch break. During the final HR phone screening which happened 30 minutes late because of the interviewer’s schedule, after almost an hour of pitching my candidacy to be one of the 10 people that they hire each month (because turnover is such an issue with this company), I couldn’t ignore the issues with their poor interview timeline and communication. To top that off, while on the phone, Casey, the HR person, is honest in saying that their is an abundance of social immaturity and unprofessionalism on their salesfloor after telling her I was transgender. She followed by also admitting that most of the people that Networx employs for the Sale Rep role are unemployed, which tells you what type of ship is sailing here. I know my worth as an integral asset to any company that I work for. Being firm and serious with an employer is the best way to let them know your level of interest in a respective opportunity. If I can tell that, as qualified as I am you seem to be baffled by me being transgender, no amount of office decorating is going to convince me that you are curating a 21 century company aesthetic. If you value your time, energy, and want to build your resume, DO NOT ACCEPT AN INSIDE SALES REP OFFER FROM THIS COMPANY.

The interview was a two-part process. Call center environment. Staff tries to make it seem over the top professional when interviewing as ur looking out of the window seeing people with their feet up on their desks wearing jeans. So yeah, one of those places.
