IT Service Analyst (2nd Line Service Analyst) Interview

      4 Sept 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Manchester, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Network Rail (Manchester, England) in Aug 2024

      Interview

Candidates should be warned that role advertisements are boiler-plate and can contain false information. The role that I had applied for had mentioned consideration for part-time candidates, however, the interviewer confirmed that this a "generic HR template" and part-time applicants are not actually being considered. This was after an initial pre-recorded video screening with technical competency questions and several week wait. As a candidate, this did very much feel like having my time wasted and set a negative tone for the interview. Second stage interview consisted of two team managers asking more competency-based questions. No interview feedback was offered. An automated email is sent post-interview informing you that you're able to request feedback, however they did not respond to my feedback request and ghosted my email both requesting it, and thanking them for their time. In summary, although the employees that I interacted with were polite and friendly, the interview process itself felt dehumanising and unprofessional.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Why did you apply for this role? What do you know about Network Rail? What do you know about safety at Network Rail? What does diversity and inclusion mean to you? Can you provide some examples of a time you've been inclusive? What skills and qualities can you bring to the role? How does this role fit into your career plan? What are some areas you find challenging? What do you know of the business? What are some challenges facing Network Rail? What would you do if someone made an inappropriate comment? Give an example of a time you've solved a problem? Give an example of a time you've proactively gained information or data form different sources?
