I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at NetoMedia (Tel Aviv-Yafo) in Jan 2018
Interview
This review is for Netomedia, the gambling company.
Before the interview I synchronized with them to make sure that their employees have a decent work life balance and work environment to which the HR replied "Of course", and we proceeded to schedule an interview.
I encountered a very disrespectful interviewer.
For some reason he really wanted to know how old I am and where I live.
When I tried to evade the question he was relentless and asked again.
Possibly illegal and definitely cringey.
I did not give in and realized that the interview was over then and there.
There were no technical questions whatsoever.
He thanked me for coming and as he escorted me out said that they would send an online test for me to work at home.
Of course, I never received the test. (In Israel, interviewers are notoriously dishonest so I can’t say I was surprised about this. They usually justify it by wanting to avoid hurting candidates feelings or avoiding confrontation.)
When I pressed for feedback, later, they said that they were not impressed by my technical abilities (which were not tested at all) and my “lack of motivation” and “lack of cooperation”.
As for the lack of motivation, I believe it is related to my desire to have a decent work life balance and working environment conditions, something that might be frowned upon by certain hi tech companies who always say they have it but not always implement it.
Some companies sometimes attribute "lack of motivation" which is another way of saying the person has no desire to be working 12 hrs a day and being on call at all time while working in an unstable environment, prone to crashing and full of tech debt while being micromanaged.
As for lack of cooperation, I assume that means not willing to disclose my age.
Obviously, I would not recommend anyone to go through that process.
