I completed a multi-stage interview process for an operations role. The people I spoke with were polite and the communication was professional in tone. The job description felt very broad, covering a wide range of possible duties and expectations. Because of that, I asked direct questions in each interview about the real scope of the role, team structure, working hours, possible evening or weekend work, overtime, after-hours phone calls, and incident responsibility. The technical discussions were detailed and hands-on, which was positive. However, despite the depth of the technical questioning, I still did not receive the same level of clarity regarding the actual scope, working hours, escalation model, and after-hours expectations of the role. Despite asking repeatedly, I did not receive clear or concrete answers. My impression was that the responses were often reassuring, but not specific enough to understand what the role would actually look like in practice. For future candidates, especially those who care about structure, predictability, and work-life balance, I would strongly recommend verifying the actual scope, working hours, escalation model, and after-hours expectations before moving forward. Overall, I would describe the interview process as polite, but not transparent enough regarding the real scope, boundaries, working hours, and operational expectations of the role. For a broadly described technical role, candidates need precise answers, not broad reassurances.
