I applied online. I interviewed at NavVis in Sept 2022
Interview
I interviewed with NavVis in September 2022 after applying through LinkedIn. The process began with an HR screening interview, followed by a technical AWS architecture assessment where I was asked to design an architecture and provide deployment code using Terraform. After successfully completing the assignment, I was invited to a technical interview with three in-house engineers.
During the technical interview, I had an uncomfortable experience. The interviewers repeatedly questioned my use of the term "microservices." Instead of exploring my reasoning or asking technical follow-up questions, they focused on challenging the terminology and appeared to mock my explanations. I clarified what I meant, but it felt as though they had already formed their own interpretation and were more interested in proving their perspective than understanding mine.
Throughout the interview, I remained patient and answered their questions professionally. However, I found the interview style disappointing. Rather than asking meaningful technical questions to evaluate my knowledge and problem-solving skills, much of the discussion centered on criticizing specific words I used. Although the interviewers were very senior engineers, I felt the conversation lacked the professionalism and respect I would expect from a technical interview.
After the interview, an HR representative called me to inform me that the company had decided not to move forward with my application.
