met with manager and vp on campus, interview went well, questions were typical interview questions, then mainly just some friendly conversation about things other than work, salary was also discussed

I am currently a commercial lines underwriter and applied internally for another commercial underwriter position in a different department. I interviewed with a manager, who kept the interview very informal. He said that I would hear back about a decision one way or another. Three weeks later, I didn't hear anything, and my Workday application closed. I emailed the manager, and he said that the position was offered to someone else with skills more in line with the role. All this for a lateral position.
