      OUTSIDE SALES Interview

      19 Apr 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Houston, TX
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at National Signs (Houston, TX) in Apr 2016

      Interview

Called me on a late Sunday afternoon which I thought was odd, but happy to hear from them. Two days later they returned my call. Said "they had an 11:30 open and could I make it in tomorrow for an interview?" I said yes even though it was last minute and I'm still working. The next day I hurried home 45 minutes away, changed, drove an hour to their facility. First thing they did was hand me the same application I already did online, 5 pages and asked that I fill it out. There were two others ahead of me so it was a cattle call, but that gave me time to fill out their long and very intrusive if not illegal application. Asking for permission to talk to my friends, neighbors, former employers about me. Really, "friends and neighbors" for a sales job! The application also pulls the latest trick to find out your age by asking what year you graduated high school and your SS number...ridiculous! Offer me the job and I will tell you everything. The interview room is right off the lobby and you can see in. The first woman was told "the interviewer couldn't make it and could she come back," very unprofessional. Then the gentleman ahead of me was called in a 11:45. I knew I had to get back to work and this was going down hill fast. Finally, after waiting over an hour I politely said I have to leave and asked for my application back. The receptionist said "she (The interviewer) should be out soon and to wait. It shouldn't be more than 20 more minutes." Really almost 90 minutes waiting for an interview. I can promise if i was 90 minutes late they would have laughed at the idea of interviewing me. Had to drive an hour home to change back and another 45 minutes back to work and drive home two hours later. What a complete waste of my time. What rude inconsiderate people / company to treat people this way looking to work hard for them. They could have cared less about me. If they simply would have apologized, shook my hand, asked if I wanted water or coffee while waiting, anything other than just ignoring me and acting as if they were doing me a favor, I might have waited. I work for one of their biggest competitors. They have no idea who they lost! Glad they showed their true self BEFORE I started working for them.

Wow. Just wow. Sorry this happened. This is why we were so aggressive on changing the management.
