I applied online. I interviewed at Naperville Public Library
Interview
An HR associate reached out for an interview, but upon responding, I got ghosted and then several weeks later, got an email that the role was filled. It is inconsiderate to ignore and ghost candidates and reflects the library's treatment of people. I'm glad I dodged a bullet.
The interview required an appropriately challenging presentation and written test. HR staff was friendly and helpful, as was the Digital Services department director. Most people at NPL are interesting, smart, and friendly.

Question 1
How do you handle confrontations with impatient patrons?
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Naperville Public Library
Interview
I met with the supervisor of the AS Department and the head of HR at Naper Blvd. The interview was conversational and no more or less stressful than a normal interview. At the end they had me do a 5-7 minute long presentation on programming for a diverse patron base with no other information, so I had no idea whether they were asking how I would choose programs, what kind of programs I would create, etc. I honestly think they were just looking at organization of information, time management, and public speaking skills. They timed me, and were very clear that they wanted a presentation between 5-7 minutes long and any presentation over that would be stopped. Afterwards they sat me down at a laptop for 20 minutes to answer an essay question about communicating and leading a reorganization of a portion of the collection throughout three branches.
