      Creative Director Interview

      16 Mar 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at NRG Energy in Jun 2025

      Interview

I was contacted via email by Vivint/NRG Sr. Manager of Talent Acquisition. We scheduled an initial phone chat about the role. During our call, it became terribly clear that this recruiter lacked ANY understanding of the creative profession. She seemed to have put little thought into her questions and was barely listening to my answers. It was like she was reading from a script and listening only for key words...if she was listening at all. In particular, she didn't understand how creative marketing is DTC (direct to consumer) in different but equally relevant ways. She just didn't understand the profession for which she was recruiting. And on top of her lack of understanding, she was far from a dynamic, engaging interviewer. No personality, energy or enthusiasm. It was like talking to an automated phone system. The good news for NRG—you can DEFINITELY replace this recruiter with AI!
