I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Mudflap in Jun 2025
Interview
Standard process and questions around account management/sales/customer success. Consists of around 4+ rounds. The first few rounds were professional, but the onsite was very unprofessional. I was repeatedly asked about my ethnicity and religion.
It's a small startup, so interviewers may lack experience in conducting interviews.
Would be cautious to work here. It seems very political for someone new to come in, as most individuals have already been here for a while.
Got rejected after the 4th interview with no feedback or call. Just standard email.
We appreciate you sharing your experience, and we’re sincerely sorry to hear about the interaction you described. That kind of behavior would be completely inconsistent with Mudflap’s values and expectations of professionalism.
At Mudflap, we strive to ensure every candidate feels respected and treated fairly throughout the hiring process. We take this type of feedback very seriously and would like to understand more about your experience so we can address it appropriately. Interview
Had 2 interviews. Both seemed to go really well. But after the second interview got an immediate generic rejection email. If they weren’t interested in the interview, they could have let me know during it wasn’t a good fit.

Interview
To save you time, I recommend running the take-home assignment through a free LLM. Please note that no one will discuss it with you.
They are likely to waste your time. I’m unsure if they’ve received a PPP loan or have other reasons, but they seem to have no real intention of hiring. With a customer service background in the trucking space, I went through four rounds of interviews where I was repeatedly asked the same questions as everyone else. There were no meaningful inquiries about my experience, metrics, or KPIs. The recruiter provided one set of expectations about the process, but my experience was quite different.
They are a competitor to Gas Buddy, yet they have only a fraction (1/5) of the user base. I’m unclear as to why they were interviewing so many candidates. This, coupled with their poor reviews from truckers and petrol stations, and the disorganized interview process (including a 15-minute coffee chat where the interviewer was five minutes late), raises concerns about their intentions.
