Thanks for the review - sorry you feel this way. We give a lot of thought to making the process as good as possible for applicants, clearly we didn't get it right for you.
We tried to make clear in the application (and especially for the candidates who got to interview) that this was a critical role for us and that we would be hiring carefully and that may manifest as slow – and asked candidates if they were OK with that or if there were time pressures we should be aware of.
Similarly, we have had a lot of problems with 100s of bot/AI/low quality applications for roles recently and deliberately asked more upfront questions than usual, hoping it would help separate out the stronger human candidates and inform subsequent interviews. We'll review this approach before we open any future roles.
