I had applied online for a different position with the same group. However, I received a call from the hiring manager for the subject position and was asked to apply for it instead. During the interview, I was told that I would be a better fit for the position I had originally applied for but that I should be willing to take a reduction in the base pay. I responded positively after due consideration but received a response that the management would like to hire talented individuals who are in the early stages of their career.
