      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at MetLife in Dec 2008

      Interview

I was contacted by MetLife HR. They had seen my resume on CareerBuilder. After an in person interview with the Director of HR, I was given a battery of tests including an Oxford test to see how well I would fare on State and Federal licensing exams. I passed all tests with flying colors and was the interviewed on a separate occasion by the Sales Director who would be my manager if I were to be offered the job. The Sales Director interview went well. I was the contacted by HR and told I had done well on all counts and had two more interviews to go...with Managing Directors of the company. During the interview process a thorough background check was done including job and personal references and fingerprinting. Now I would have to pass two licensing exams--the first was "Life, Health and Accident" for the State. As I did not come out of the insurance industry, I found the material complicated and a lot to memorize. I did all self-study after purchasing a book from MetLife. After six weeks of study and then paying to take the exam, I took the exam and passed on my first attempt. The second exam is for a Series 6 license and is the same exam in every state. Series 6 deals more with stocks, bonds, law and other materials that I found extremely difficult.
