I received a great call and introductory email that the recruiter wanted to “Connect” and would love to talk to me about the position I applied for less than 24 hours after I applied. As an executive leader currently interviewing nationally for new roles, I could not believe how poorly the next steps of the process were handled.
I called as requested the next day and the recruiter disnt even seem to remember calling me. She had to “pull my file” and then began asking me four questions. She never explained the role to me, never even bothered to ask about my background or experience. The call lasted 4 minutes for an Exec Role/right hand to the CEO.
I’ve been in these roles for over a decade and I’ve never had anyone make a determination about my fit for an executive level role based on four questions in four minutes.
Mays —- please do better. This role should not start with a staff recruiter triage. You’ll have a hard time finding a highly qualified candidate for an executive level role running us through a four minute sniff test. Disappointing to say the least.
