Complete Waste of Time – Poorly Managed and Misleading Hiring Process
This has been one of the most frustrating and unprofessional interview experiences I’ve encountered.
To begin with, no proper Job Description (JD) was provided, and despite being scheduled for a Senior Software Engineer role, the interviews were clearly conducted at the level of a Lead Software Engineer, reflecting a serious lack of clarity and alignment within the hiring team.
I went through two technical rounds, and a third (HR round) was confirmed, only for the process to be suddenly put on hold citing “internal management restructuring.” What made matters worse was the excessive delay—nearly one month between each round, stretching the entire process over several months:
Applied: September
1st Round: October 2024
2nd Round: November 2024
3rd Round (planned): Early December 2024 → Unexpectedly put on hold
Eventually, the application was closed under the same vague “restructuring” reason, wasting significant time and effort.
What is even more disappointing is that the exact same experience was repeated in 2025 when my wife applied:
1st Round: October 2025
2nd Round: November 2025
3rd Round (planned): Early December 2025 → Again halted due to restructuring
At the final stage, there was no follow-up, no transparency, and no accountability.
This clearly points to a systemic issue in their hiring process—poor coordination, lack of seriousness, and complete disregard for candidates’ time. It strongly gives the impression that these roles are either not genuinely open or are being used merely to test the market and maintain visibility rather than make actual hires.
Strongly recommend avoiding this process unless you are prepared to face uncertainty, delays, and a high likelihood of wasted effort.
2 rounds of interview. 1 is technical session and another 1 is direct with HOD. Easy and chill session. After interview you will need to have a session with HR but mainly discuss on your benefits etc.
Maybank's interview process involves HR screening, technical assessments, cultural fit evaluations, case studies, and final interviews with senior leaders. It's comprehensive, assessing both skills and alignment with company values and goals.
