      Math Curriculum Specialist Interview

      28 Jan 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Mathspace in Nov 2016

      Interview

I applied online. 10 days later (after a lot of phone tag), I was able to schedule a video chat interview. I was told that I needed to develop a lesson as well as develop a pitch/presentation to a potential client using Mathspace. I researched Mathspace and developed a presentation. During the interview, I gave my pitch. When I was done, I was asked very specific questions about Mathspace - information that isn't on the website. Considering I don't work for Mathspace, I didn't have these answers. I would assume I would be trained prior to doing a formal pitch with a client. Then, we started talking about competitor's products. I was discussing the pros and cons of the products we were discussing. After we finished that, I was told my pitch was over. Huh? My pitch was over when my presentation was over! I wouldn't have discussed competitor's products the same way with a potential client as I would with my boss. In retrospect, I could have asked if the pitch part of the interview was over. There was very little communication and flow with the interview. I found it distracting that I was video chatting with someone in their house, dressed casually. Don't they take the interview process seriously, too? Overall, I wasn't presented with an offer, and I wouldn't have taken one.
