I applied via the carrer section of the mathworks website. The process was odd since the beginning. I was first contacted via email by the manager, to arrange a call. I replied to the email and got no answer. After a few days, I contacted them back, to know what changed and I was told that he wrote me to arrange the first telephone interview. Eventually we agreed on a day for the first call. It was quite generic, about my job, my skills, my interests. He asked me to study some topics and we arranged a call 2 weeks later. I was called by another guy, since the first one was on holiday. The interview was quite simple, with maths, C, C++ and Matlab questions. Topics were dynamic memory allocation, pointers, virtual destructors, matlab functions, some probability questions and many of the questions you may find here. At the end of this call, I got a very positive feedback. After one week, I did not get any update. I wrote an email and this time the second guy was on holiday. The first one called me back, checked the outcome of the interview and arranged a call with HR, to plan a visit to the Cambridge site, mainly to have a better idea about the place. More delays and finally they called me. We talked a little bit and they decided to give me two days to think about it. They called again, we discussed a coupled of days to fly to Cambridge. Unfortunately, some people were unavailable and they were supposed to call me the week after to tell me when they were available. They did not call. Finally, the week after the one they told me, they called, saying that the offer they could come up with could be below my expectations, so it was pointless to arrange this third interview. What really surprised me was the unefficiency of the process. They took a lot of time, made me waste a lot of time and, despite a very good interview and positive feedback, they decided not to finish the process. I expected something more from such a company.
