I applied online. I interviewed at Marshalls (Montebello, CA) in Jan 2023
Interview
They'll bring you in. You'll small talk, small talk back. They'll ask if you have past costumer service experience, not a selling point. They'll ask you why Marshalls, give us a poor customer experience you received, how did you handle a criticism on your performance, are you open to learning somethig new.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tells us about yourself, why Marshalls, what do you like about Marshalls, a bad costumer experience you received, how do you handle criticism when it was given to you in the work place
Phone interview (30 min max.), then proceeded to second in-person interview at applied location.
Decent interviews, but found that they valued people who wouldn't realize that they favor older staff who won't try to change anything internally (even obvious cleaning/safety standards/time expectations).
I applied online. I interviewed at Marshalls (Woodhaven, MI) in Oct 2025
Interview
Marshalls shares their career portal with Home Goods and TJ Maxx. Be very careful that you are applying to the right store and location. Afterwards, you will get a call fairly quickly to set up an interview. Usually only one manager handles the interviews, so you may not hear back on follow-ups for awhile if that person is off of work. Follow up as needed or you may get forgotten about.

Question 1
There were only a few questions. The only important one is about your availability. They are obviously checking for good attitude and professionalism even though you won't be asked about that.
