      Research Scientist Interview

      19 Sept 2013
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Mars

      Interview

I felt the interview process after the fact was very deceptive. The interview itself was not difficult because I had done very intense preparation for potential technical and behavioral questions. The first part was a two panel interview that focused only on behavioral questions. The second part was a five panel interview that primarily focused on technical questions with a few behavioral questions. I was able to answer all questions and I felt the interview went VERY well as I observed a lot of head nodding indicating my answers were on the right track. I was then led to believe I would get an offer based on them saying that I was a good fit for the position, their positive reaction to me, and many, many other factors. A few days later I learned that I was not getting an offer that they some how turned it around to indicate that it was in my best interest. As if you to say, you'll thank me for this later. (Hint: If that happens then you know someone isn't telling the truth). So much for the Mars 5 principles. I think they should add one more principle...integrity...

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

There were no really difficult questions only because I had done my homework as if I was taking the bar exam. If I hadn't prepared, the process would have been extremely difficult.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Mars (Chicago, IL) in Nov 2021

      Interview

Started with phone screens via a recruiter. Then met in person with a series of panels, come prepared with STAR scenarios. Overall a pleasant experience, especially good to do some research before then.

      Interview

Upon arrival I was given a case study and one hour to prepare a presentation. After that we had a short break before a more conventional interview, and then a tour of the facility.

      Question 1

Nothing unusual, just competency type questions.
