Hotel W Barcelona was hiring for all their department like: Resteaurants, bars, room service, parking, pool area, reception etc.
I send my CV and hear nothing. I fund it odd since I have loads of experience in service sector and speak 7 language. I contact them and ask if they have received my CV. They are not sure and ask me to send it again. I do so but this time without my date of birth. Same day I am asked to an interview.
First interview with a nice young trainee who likes me. Together we find out that the right place for me is in the concierge department that of course has a fancy name that I don't remember. I am send to 2. interview with the manager of the concierge department.
A young man in a cheap suit from Zara arrives and tell me that I should already be happy to have come this fare in the process. I feel right away that he is not the slightest interested in me. He ask me 2 questions without being interested in the answers while looking somehow through me and not in the eyes. He did not ask about my education as a waiter, about my 9 years working for the well known A.P. Moeller company Maersk Air nor into the 7 languages that I speak. I also have a university degree.
It was clearly that I am too old which is so politically incorrect now a days where most companies want to have an image of diversity.
I find it strange that Hotel W doesn't spend more money on their HR. If they had, I'm sure they would have found a position for me that could have been to the benefit of both parts.
They tell you that if you haven't heard from them in a week it's a no. Where is the politeness? Would it be to much to ask for to send a mail with a feedback? After all Hotel W is looking for servucemunded staff to take care of guests.
