Initially the assistant creative director named some well known brands and not so well known brands and asked me what their taglines/Payoff lines are and then they moved on asking some particular ones like Sure we can of TNT express, and told me to connect the promise with the brand, my way of seeing it and then finally if i could suggest some equally good or better taglines.
In the next day of interview, now more with a 1:1 situation with the art director, he held several design dummy copies of a same brand, and asked me which one i liked best and then why. This guy seemed to jot down almost all things i said which was very annoying to some extent. later some of us were selected for a trial day and most short listed ones made through. I later knew that the art director was a very famous one locally and he liked my observation and perception more than the others :). Till now i just met him twice or more, he is truly a genius.
