I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Macy's (San Jose, CA) in Sept 2009
Interview
The very important thing about Applying to Macy's is to apply in store. Most of the Macy's stores have a special booth where you can create your resume and send it to HR. Macy's hire throughout a year. I got a call from an HR in 3 days after my online application. I had 1:1 interview with one of my future managers and it was pretty easy and straightforward. I was asked if I had previous sales experience and if I was available to work more than 3 days a week. She also gave me couple examples of real life situations and asked me how I would resolve them. After 2 more days I was already scheduled to attend orientation and training

Question 1
If one of the customers was angry about the store policy how would you explain him or her in a polite way that it is a rule
Was interviewed for a seasonal position. Was told they have no seasonal positions, once they found out I was a college student. Made no sense to me quickly ended the interview.
The interview process was straightforward and fairly quick. It started with a phone interview from a recruiter or hiring representative who asked general questions about my background, availability, and interest in the role. The tone was professional but conversational, and the interviewer focused on making sure I could handle a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.
I had one interview with the store manager and it lasted for about 45 minutes. The interview was all standard behavioral questions. I was offered the job on the spot.
