Interview
I interviewed for the management development program to become an entry level Group Sales Manager. My first interaction was at a college fair, where I talked with HR and presented my resume. About 1-2 weeks later I was scheduled for a store interview but it was a joke. The regional HR manager did not know anything about the program and interviewed me like I was applying for a sales associate and not a manager. However, she did call corporate HR and I was moved into the next block of group interviews. The group interview was held at the Herald Square store in NYC. I live in south NJ so it was a 3 hour trip (one way so 6 hours total) to interview with 30 other potential candidates. The interviews lasted over 6 hours (they did provide a lunch) that included a group observation where you must collaborate with 5 other interview candidates on a group sales manager situational problem and then present your solution.
Three weeks later, I received a letter of offer from corporate HR for the position.

Question 1
A customer comes in to return a sweater without a receipt (still has tags) and refuses a store credit or exchange because she paid cash and wants cash back. She is frustrated and threatening to never ever come back to Macy's again even though she's shopped here for decades. The sweater is priced $24.99. Would you refund the customer in cash or explain Macy's return policy again and let her walk away?

Interview
Application, several one on one interviews. Interviewed with HR, then taken over to Department Manager. One week later, I met with the District Manager from San Francisco. Offered the job a day later. FYI, I wasn't hired two weeks earlier at another location.
