I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Macy's in Aug 2011
Interview
Everything was initially dealt with via computer, the actual hiring managers didn't touch my resume and application until I scheduled an interview. So, I suppose it is rather important to do well on the questions asked about you and how you would behave in certain situations.
I had a group interview, with one other person being interviewed with me. At first that was extremely nerve wrecking! But you can take that to your advantage because it can allow you to really stand out and stay put in the hiring manager's mind.
At the end of the interview though, it was said that neither of us were going to get offered a position that day because they were not yet hiring. They tend to do interviews way before the holidays so they can have people in mind when they want to hire closer to the end of the year.
Was interviewed for a seasonal position. Was told they have no seasonal positions, once they found out I was a college student. Made no sense to me quickly ended the interview.
The interview process was straightforward and fairly quick. It started with a phone interview from a recruiter or hiring representative who asked general questions about my background, availability, and interest in the role. The tone was professional but conversational, and the interviewer focused on making sure I could handle a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.
I had one interview with the store manager and it lasted for about 45 minutes. The interview was all standard behavioral questions. I was offered the job on the spot.
