I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at MSL CPAs (Orlando, FL) in Apr 2024
Interview
The interview process was fairly typical, except that most other places I interviewed at were still allowing some remote interviews, but this firm is clearly anti-remote and outdated in their practices. Had to interview about 30 minutes each with two different higher-up personnel. One lady was relatively friendly, but the first one I interview with (Middle-aged Asian American Man) seemed kind of abrasive and harsh on me- grilling me in a very intense manner about exactly what detailed audit work I had been involved at in my internship and job {Did not expect that and made me feel like he wanted someone with perfect qualifications to jump in so that managers like him don't have to be bothered to help train people}.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Can't remember too much of anything specific, but I remembered I found it kind of odd that the lady was asking me about specific accounting effects when a transaction occurs (Like what is debited when X and Y happened}. Never had that happen before in an interview as the scripts they are reading off are generally focused more on communication and open-ended behavioral questions than accounting knowledge.
