I applied through a staffing agency. I interviewed at MSIG
Interview
The interview experience felt less professional than expected. The hiring manager joined late to the interview without acknowledging or apologising for the delay, which created a poor first impression.
A significant portion of the discussion focused on topics that did not appear directly related to the role scope or day-to-day responsibilities. Some questions also felt unnecessarily personal or dismissive rather than focused on evaluating operational fit and capability.
One example that stood out was gaslighting candidate "not in a hurry" despite actively attending interviews and applying across the industry. The comment came across as discouraging rather than constructive.
Overall, the experience felt more confrontational than exploratory. Candidates interviewing for junior-to-mid operations roles would likely benefit from a more structured and role-relevant interview process.
I interviewed for the entry-level actuarial analyst (Warren, NJ and NYC) position back in January, 2026. No HR involved. The Chief Actuary contacted and interviewed with me first. After the interview, he passed me onto the next stage to interview with the Senior Pricing Actuary the following week. It has been a little over 7 weeks since that interview and I have not heard back from anyone. I sent an email to the Chief Actuary and the Senior Pricing Actuary over 5 and 3 weeks ago respectively about my continued interest and when I should expect to hear an update. Still nobody replied to me. I know the company is going through a rapid expansion process and looking to hire a lot of new talent, but this is completely unacceptable. This is not how you treat entry-level candidates. I saw they reposted the same EL Actuarial Analyst position on LinkedIn 4 weeks ago and I wanted to put this out there to warn those who could possibly be going through the same process as I did.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at MSIG (Singapore)
Interview
Started with completing all the necessary forms, and provided them my certificates for vetting. Process is very professional and I've gone through 2 rounds of interview. HR is friendly and I got the offer within a week after the 2nd round of interview.
