      Program Manager Interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at ME&A (Washington, DC) in Apr 2021

      Interview

My experience with ME&A was the most degrading and unprofessional interview imaginable. I was contacted by a recruiter, strongly encouraged to apply for a role, and went through a standard phone screen. Next, during my one-on-one interview with the Project Director, she went line by line through my CV, making unbelievably rude remarks about my experience. They started questions a half decade back, to tear about my college degree (even though this was a solidly mid-level role). I was interrupted multiple times during the conversation and eventually told, in an extremely condescending manner, that I was completely unqualified for the job. In a standard interview process, this would normally have been the conclusion of the conversation, however this hiring manager took 20 additional minutes of my time to tell me, unsolicited, just how unqualified I was for the position. To give a concrete an example, she offered to send me some resources that would, direct quote, "definitely make it clear why I needed re-write my entire resume." I was complete stunned when the interveiw ended, given that the job posting didn't align in the least with the hiring managers lofty expectations and that I was contacted by ME&A to apply. Perhaps the cherry on top of all of this, is that when I shared my experience with several peers, multiple individuals echoed a similar, equally horrible interveiw experience at ME&A. Needless to say, I will never be applying to another job here, and wouldn't encourage any other self-respecting professionals to either.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The recruited asked me some standard questions: "Tell me about your relevant experience..", "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?". The hiring manager didn't ask me any real interview questions, just gave me loaded, skeptical, comments-framed-as-questions on my experience. I really wish I was exaggerating, but am not. Stay away!
