Easy technical questions. More about research ideas and long term career plans. Details about previous laboratory and experience in specific areas. A lot of questions about publications. A few details about statistical analysis
I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at MD Anderson Cancer Center (South Houston, TX) in Mar 2016
Interview
I was greeted by the PI, she stated she was very impressed with my credentials and would be hiring me immediately. (That should have been my first sign of her impulsiveness.) First RED FLAG!
Not sure what she was impressed with, I do not have a Bachelors or even an Associates degree. I am an average worker that technology has passed over. I took a short break in the field to raise my family and was not able to complete my previous community college courses. By the PI making this rash decision, the job was a nightmare, to say the least in the nicest possible way. My work environment was hostile and the research became unusable. Millions of research dollars were wasted!
This department boasted they are the richest department there at MD Anderson and have no regard for equipment costs.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
She didn't really ask me much. She gave the interview based on my resume, explained her department and I let her know what I was familiar with and what I was not familiar with. PI stated that was not a problem and that she would be showing me what I did not already know. I really wished I would have asked more questions of this PI and the supervisor. The supervisor had worked alone for 17+ years. I later discovered the why to this.
