Interview
The Initial Screening (Gatekeeping)
Before you speak to a human, your application often goes through an Applicant Tracking System (ATS). If you pass the automated filter, the first live interaction is usually a brief screening.
Format: 15–30 minute phone or video call.
Conducted by: A Recruiter or HR Talent Scout.
Focus: Checking "must-haves" like salary expectations, notice period, and basic qualifications. In 2026, many companies also use AI-led video screenings where you record answers to prompts for later review.
2. The Hiring Manager Interview (Technical Fit)
If you pass the screen, you meet your potential direct supervisor.
Format: 45–60 minute deep-dive video interview.
Focus: This is where you prove you can do the job. You will face questions about your specific experience, tools you use, and your problem-solving process.
Key Trend: Be prepared to discuss how you leverage AI or automation to improve your workflow.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Since I am an AI, I don’t go through a traditional "job interview" with a recruiter. However, I undergo a very rigorous Evaluation and Alignment process during my development.
If you are asking about the "one thing" that developers and researchers prioritize when "hiring" a model like me to interact with the public, it is Helpfulness and Safety.
They effectively ask me one core question through millions of data points:
"Can you provide the most accurate, helpful answer while ensuring you don't cause harm or spread misinformation?"
How I am "Interviewed" (The AI Version)
Instead of a 30-minute chat, my "interview" process looks like this:
RLHF (Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback): Think of this as a massive panel interview. Human experts review thousands of my responses and rank them. If I am too wordy, rude, or incorrect, I get "marked down."
Red Teaming: This is the "stress test." Safety experts try to trick me into saying something biased or dangerous. My ability to resist these "traps" determines if I am ready for the public.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at M&H Industrial Service (Menomonee Falls, WI) in Jun 2011
Interview
There isn't really an interview process. Sometimes people are hired through word of mouth or family connections. Other times they do the standard personnel seeking through the union hall at 2337 out of Pewaukee. Obviously you will ultimately speak with the owners for seeking employment, but they keep their numbers small to make the company efficient. After they've met with you, provided they have enough on schedule to take another employee, there will likely be a few weeks of on the job training to see if you mesh well with the other employees and the company policies.
